Presentations on human services themes

The Community of Practice group of the Human Services Integration Project is holding an event at City Hall in meeting room C on March 27 for staff interested in innovative human services. Speakers will discuss why statistics aren’t scary – how data can be used to improve programs for marginalized populations, and safer injection sites and the opioid crisis. Details

Launch of Clean Toronto Together

Mayor John Tory and representatives from GLAD Canada will kick off the 2018 Clean Toronto Together campaign on Nathan Phillips Square at 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday, March 28. The City’s annual spring cleanup consists of a four-week interdivisional cleanup and hundreds of community, business and school cleanups over the April 20-22 weekend.

Toronto Caregivers Day Event

Staff are invited to attend the second Annual Caregivers Day on April 3, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chamber. The event will include remarks by Mayor John Tory, Councillor Pasternak, Councillor Matlow and other guests. Attendees will be treated to inspiring caregiver stories, entertainment and refreshments. This event is an opportunity to recognize informal caregivers and to learn about resources and services. Click here to register

PCard declined transactions

PCard holders are reminded to contact the Bank of Montreal at 1-800-263-2263 first if a transaction is declined. For increases to transaction limits, a minimum of three business days and a completed Change Request form is required. For additional information, contact your Divisional PCard Coordinator (DPC).

Interact with over 200 certified diverse suppliers

The Social Procurement Program is hosting its annual Networking with Diverse Suppliers event on May 17 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Metro Hall. This event will feature City division booths and is ideal for staff who invite vendors to quote and are knowledgeable about purchases across their division. Patron Screening at City Hall Survey

Following security assessments conducted by Toronto Police Service and Public Safety Canada, Corporate Security recommended certain enhanced security measures at City Hall, including patron screening for visitors (non-City staff). Staff can now share their views on patron screening in an online survey until April 10.

Information about City Manager’s Awards

Are you proud of your team’s program, project or service and want everyone to know about it? Applications for the City Manager’s Awards of Excellence, the highest recognition for the Toronto Public Service, open on April 16. Staff are invited to attend one of three information sessions that will provide helpful information on writing an effective nomination. Details

This spring’s prescribed burns in High Park      

Parks, Forestry and Recreation will conduct prescribed burns in High Park in early- to mid-April as part of long-term plans to protect and sustain Toronto’s rare black oak savannahs. The exact date chosen for the burn will coincide with ideal weather conditions and it will be announced 24 hours before the burn takes place. Details
