During the COVID-19 pandemic, unprecedented supply chain disruption and worldwide PPE shortages required that we return the Pleats Plus respirator to service. All levels of government have worked together to stabilize the supply of N95 respirators and ensure the supply of PPE is resilient.

As our supply of currently manufactured N95 respirators is now stable, Toronto Paramedic Services is suspending the distribution of Pleats Plus respirators effective June 26, 2022.

All staff are reminded of the following:

• Staff must use a fit-tested, currently manufactured, disposable N95 respirator (e.g., 3M 1870+, 9205+, 9210+, 1870, 1804, 1804s) as their first choice.
• Staff who do not fit on one of the disposable respirators listed above shall continue using their issued Air-Purifying Respirator (APR) mask (e.g., North 7700 APR).
• APR masks will remain a backup respirator for all staff to whom they have been issued.
