I am pleased to announce the appointments of Andrew Bridge, Ryan Faye, Michelle Flynn, Rachel Janer, Phillip Lim, Justin Migchels and Ariel Riesenbach to the position of Superintendent, Operations.
Andrew Bridge
Andrew graduated from the Paramedic program at Humber College in 2012 and joined Toronto Paramedic Services later the same year. Andrew has served as a Primary Care Paramedic (PCP) in District 1, and also provided guidance and training to his peers as a Field Training Officer.
Andrew joined the Leadership team in 2021 as an Acting Superintendent and currently serves the community in District 3.
Ryan Faye
Ryan graduated from the Fire and Emergency Services program at Humber College in 1998 and worked in the private sector as a Fire and Safety Technician and as a dispatcher. Ryan joined Toronto Paramedic Services in 2002 as a PCP. He has also served as a Field Training Officer (FTO) and a member of the Public Safety Unit since 2016.
Ryan holds NFPA certifications in Urban Search and Rescue, Swiftwater Rescue, High Angle Rescue and Tactical Combat Casualty Care, and has volunteered on a search and rescue team since 2011. Ryan took on the role of Acting Superintendent in July 2021 and currently serves the community in District 1.
Michelle Flynn
joined Toronto Paramedic Services in 2002 as a Primary Care Paramedic (PCP). She has provided guidance as a mentor for the Med Vents through ride-outs and educational presentations, and most recently served as a Health and Safety representative for her peers in District 4.
Michelle joined the Leadership team in 2020 as an Acting Superintendent and currently serves the community in District 2.
Rachel Janer
Rachel graduated from the Loyalist College Paramedic Program in 2003 and joined Toronto Paramedic Services in April of the same year. She completed her Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Toronto in 1998 and is working to complete her Master of Business Administration with the Australian Institute of Business. Rachel became an Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP) in 2015 and an FTO in 2017.
In 2020, Rachel assumed a leadership role as an Acting Superintendent in District 3. In 2021, Rachel served on the teams at the Mass Immunization Clinic at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, partnering with Toronto Public Health and the Infection Prevention and Control Units. She currently serves the community in District 3.
Phillip Lim
Phillip graduated from the Centennial College Paramedic Program in 2014 and completed his Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Paramedicine at the University of Toronto in 2016. Phillip joined Toronto Paramedic Services in 2014 and worked as a PCP in Districts 1 and 2.
In January 2020, Phillip became an Acting Superintendent in District 1 and then the Staff Support Centre (SSC). He currently serves the community in District 6. Outside of work, Phillip enjoys spending time with his wife and child, and his two poorly behaved cats.
Justin Migchels
Justin Migchels joined Toronto Paramedic Services in 2016 as a PCP, working primarily out of Districts 1 and 3. Justin was certified as an ACP in 2020 and has been in a leadership role as an Acting Superintendent since October 2021, serving the community in the Part-time Program and in District 3. Justin also works part-time as an ACP with Peel Regional Paramedic Services and Ornge 799 on the Toronto Islands.
Justin holds an Honours Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Toronto and is currently completing a Master of Arts in Disaster and Emergency Management from Royal Roads University. Justin is currently assigned to District 3.
Ariel Riesenbach
Ariel joined Toronto Paramedic Services as a PCP in 2017. He has been in a leadership role as Acting Superintendent since April 2022 and has served the community in Districts 3 and 6.
Ariel holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Psychology degree and has overseas, medical, volunteer, and military experience. He spends his time off with his young family, listening to audiobooks, and gets way too competitive when playing baseball or his favourite strategy games.
Please join me in congratulating Andrew, Ryan, Rachel, Phillip, Justin and Ariel, and wishing them well in their new roles.
