On June 22, 2024, Toronto Paramedic Services will be implementing the use of Apple AirTags to track controlled medication red kits. Apple AirTags will be used to enhance compliance with the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act requirements regarding the handling of controlled substances, and to support the protection and safety of members of the public through the tracking of lost, stolen and missing controlled medication kits.

If you have a smartphone, you may receive a notification indicating “AirTag Found Moving With You” or “Tracker traveling with you” (see images below). Please note that this tracking pertains solely to the controlled medication kits. Paramedics should not disable the AirTags or remove them from the controlled medication kits.
