Provincial Radio System Upgrade

The Ministry of Health (MOH) is transitioning Communications Centres to a new P25 digital radio system. On June 12, 2024, Mississauga CACC will transition to the P25 system, with Toronto CACC’s Out of Town (OOT) radio system following on June 13, 2024.

Effective June 12, 2024, the OOT Dispatcher will be required to monitor the new P25 digital radio talk group “DUFF-TOR CACC P25” and the existing OOT radio talk group “DUFF-TOR CACC” using the Msel function. The new P25 digital radio talk group is located directly above the existing OOT radio talk group.

Note: the unselect volume on the “DUFF-P COM” talk group must be set to an audible monitoring level to ensure no communication is lost.

Mississauga units entering Toronto on June 12 may use the new “DUFF-TOR CACC P25” or “DUFF-P COM” talk group for communication with the OOT Dispatcher.

Georgian CACC will be transitioning the week of June 17, 2024, and Oshawa CACC will be transitioning the week of June 24, 2024. Georgian and Oshawa units will continue to use the “DUFF-TOR CACC” talk group until the transition is complete. For this reason, the OOT Dispatcher will be required to ensure both TOR-CACC talk groups are selected using Msel until the transition for neighbouring CACCs has been completed.

Muskoka CACC and Parry Sound CACC will not transition to the P25 system until November 2024. In the event a unit from these regions comes into Toronto prior to their transition, they will communicate using the “DUFF-P COM” talk group.
