To align with the recently released Ministry of Health Training Bulletin #33 “Call Taking and Dispatching Protocols for COVID-19 Version 10.2”, effective immediately the following changes will be made to our current procedures:
- Change to EIDST collection requirement:
- EMDs will not be required to perform any screening if there is a known positive result (e.g., the caller has already stated difficulty breathing, patient travel, etc.)
- EMDs will open the EIDST window to record any known positive result by checking the applicable reason (travel, symptoms, close contact, etc.)
- EMDs will record any known positive result using the new shorthand in the Comments/Notes of the ECT
- Addition of the following new shorthand comments:
- /COVP (COVID-19 screening positive: [EMD to write reason here])
- /COVN (COVID-19 screening negative)
- /COVU (COVID-19 screening unknown)
- Removal of the following shorthand comments:
- /NID + /ID + /IDU
- /CCN + /CCP +/CCU
- /RTN + /RT + /RTU
Thank you for your continued patience and efforts to support the necessary changes, and your commitment to the safety of our Paramedics and our patients.
Please email emscommedqi@toronto.ca or contact the on-duty Superintendent with any questions or concerns.
