Emerging Infectious Disease Surveillance Tool (EIDST):
Coronavirus (COVID-19) Precautions – Amendment #9

To align with the recently released Ministry of Health Training Bulletin #33 “Call Taking and Dispatching Protocols for COVID-19 Version 10.2”, effective immediately the following changes will be made to our current procedures:

  1. Change to EIDST collection requirement:
    1. EMDs will not be required to perform any screening if there is a known positive result (e.g., the caller has already stated difficulty breathing, patient travel, etc.)
    2. EMDs will open the EIDST window to record any known positive result by checking the applicable reason (travel, symptoms, close contact, etc.)
    3. EMDs will record any known positive result using the new shorthand in the Comments/Notes of the ECT
  1. Addition of the following new shorthand comments:
    1. /COVP (COVID-19 screening positive: [EMD to write reason here])
    2. /COVN (COVID-19 screening negative)
    3. /COVU (COVID-19 screening unknown)
  1. Removal of the following shorthand comments:
    1. /NID + /ID + /IDU
    2. /CCN + /CCP +/CCU
    3. /RTN + /RT + /RTU

Thank you for your continued patience and efforts to support the necessary changes, and your commitment to the safety of our Paramedics and our patients.
