Federal Election Day – Monday, September 20, 2021

A federal election will take place on Monday, September 20, 2021, with polls open from 09:30 to 21:30.

All Toronto Paramedic Services staff who are scheduled to work a twelve (12) hour shift (regular hours or overtime) on Monday, September 20, 2021, are strongly encouraged to use one of the advance voting options below:

  • Vote in person
Vote at any Elections Canada office before Tuesday, September 14, at 18:00. Elections Canada offices are open 7 days a week (Monday-Friday 09:00-21:00, Saturday 09:00-18:00, Sunday 12:00-16:00).

For more information on the election, including health and safety measures for in-person voting, visit Elections Canada or call 1-800-463-6868.

Any staff member who cannot use one of the advance voting options and who requires time off to vote on Election Day must submit their request in writing to their Commander/Manager on or before Friday, September 17, 2021, to allow the Division time to make the necessary arrangements. Failure to submit the request in writing on or before the due date may result in the request for time off being denied.

Given the unpredictable nature of emergency calls it may not be possible to accommodate requests from operational staff (e.g., Paramedics, Communications) for time off during the shift to vote. We strongly encourage staff to use one of the advance voting options.

If necessary, night shift staff will be contacted and requested to come in at 17:00 (2.0 hours paid overtime) to help cover staff who have requested time off to vote.

If you have any questions, please speak with your Commander/Manager.

Sincerely,
