It has been brought to our attention that Dexamethasone is listed by the manufacturer for intravenous and intramuscular administration only, but that the Medical Directive includes the oral administration as a preferred route.

This communication is to clarify that paramedics are authorized by the base hospital to provide oral administration of the IV/IM Dexamethasone preparation as per the medical directive. This does not require any dose adjustment.

I hope this memo clarifies any confusion related to the use of Dexamethasone PO.
