CACC Deployment to Back-up
Ambulance Communications Centre
November 25-27, 2023

On Saturday, November 25, all CACC Operations will deploy to the Back-up Ambulance Communications Centre at 703 Don Mills Rd. (8th floor). The planned return to the primary Communications Centre at 4330 Dufferin St. is Monday, November 27. This deployment is required to complete software patches, conduct building maintenance and general cleaning.

Procedure – Deployment to 703 Don Mills Rd.

The deployment to 703 Don Mills Rd. will take place during an early shift change on Saturday, November 25, starting at 05:30.

  • Staff from the Friday NIGHT shift will remain at 4330 Dufferin St.;
  • Incoming Saturday DAY shift staff will report to 703 Don Mills Rd.;
  • Saturday DAY shift Senior EMDs will start at 05:30 (0.5 hours of overtime will be paid) and the Friday NIGHT shift Senior EMDs may be asked to remain until 06:30 (if needed) to ensure a smooth transition;
  •  Saturday DAY shift EMDs and Call Takers will start at 05:30 (1.5 hours of overtime will be paid) and Friday NIGHT shift EMDs may be asked to remain until 07:30 to ensure a smooth transition; and
  • ·         Saturday DAY shift Superintendents and Deputy Commanders will start at 05:30 (0.5 hours of overtime will be paid) and Friday NIGHT shift Superintendents and Deputy Commanders may be asked to remain until 06:30 to ensure a smooth transition.

Additional CACC staff (including EDQI and CACC IT) will be on duty to assist with the transition.

Procedure – Return to 4330 Dufferin St.

The return to 4330 Dufferin St. will take place during an early shift change on Monday, November 27, starting at 05:30.

  • Staff from the Sunday NIGHT shift staff will remain at 703 Don Mills Rd.;
  • Incoming Monday DAY shift staff will report to 4330 Dufferin St.;

·         Monday DAY shift Senior EMDs will start at 05:30 (0.5 hours of overtime will be paid) and the Sunday NIGHT shift Senior EMDs may be asked to remain until 06:30 (if needed) to ensure a smooth transition;

  • Monday DAY shift EMDs and Call Takers will start at 05:30 (1.5 hours of overtime will be paid) and Sunday NIGHT shift EMDs and Call Takers may be asked to remain until 07:30 to ensure a smooth transition.
  • Monday DAY shift Superintendents and Deputy Commanders will start at 05:30 (0.5 hours of overtime will be paid) and Sunday NIGHT shift Superintendents and Deputy Commanders may be asked to remain until 06:30 to ensure a smooth transition.

Additional CACC staff (including EDQI and CACC IT) will be on duty to assist with the transition.

Headsets

All staff who will be working at 703 Don Mills Rd. at any time during the affected weekend must bring their personal headsets (all pieces) with them and must bring their headsets back to 4330 Dufferin St. for their next scheduled shift.

Meals

Individually packaged, catered meals will be available to staff in the 8th floor kitchenette at 703 Don Mills Rd. A refrigerator (marked with a TPS crest) is available in the 6th floor kitchen (Office of Emergency Management) for staff who bring their own lunches, as well as additional seating. Any dietary restrictions must be sent to Shawn.Naraine@toronto.ca by Friday, November 17.

Staff Parking at 703 Don Mills Rd.

Between Saturday, November 25, and Monday, November 27, parking for personal vehicles will be provided on the upper deck of the 703 Don Mills Rd. parking structure. All spaces must be vacated by 07:30 on Monday, November 27.

 Staff requiring accessible parking may use the designated spots outside the main entrance to 703 Don Mills Rd. with a valid permit visible.

Auto-Functions in VisiCAD

 Auto-Roster, Auto-Meal Break, and Auto-Status changes will be operational while staff are deployed to 703 Don Mills Rd.; however, EMDs must be vigilant regarding status updates, meal breaks, and process changes, and be prepared to intervene using VisiCAD or radio communication with Paramedics as needed.
