Paramedic Services Week 2024: Divisional Challenge and Activities

For Paramedic Services Week 2024, several division-wide events and activities will take place, including a Crest Design Challenge, Scavenger Hunt, and BINGO!

Crest Design Challenge

From May 13-23, 2024, design a crest which represents your unit and submit for voting! The winning crests will be announced on May 25, 2024. Please review the rules and regulations on the Staff Blog. If you have any questions, reach out to Commander Jay Gagne via email (jay.gagne@toronto.ca).

Scavenger Hunt

From May 17-23, 2024, staff are invited to be on the hunt for EMS-related items in the form of 3”x3” pictures hidden in each District and at Headquarters! Find an item, scan the QR code, take a selfie and fill out the online form to earn points. The staff member with the most points will win the treasure! If you have any questions, please reach out to Superintendent Ilka Barniske via email (ilka.barniske@toronto.ca).

BINGO!

From May 17-24, staff are invited to take part in BINGO! There are two different cards to play (Operations-based and Headquarters-based) – so select a card, and work to achieve as many squares as possible! Check out the posters on the Staff Blog for rules of play, and where to pick-up your cards. If you have any questions, please reach out to Superintendent Ilka Barniske via email (ilka.barniske@toronto.ca).

Don’t forget, all week long there will be daily draws for gift cards which were generously donated by the Toronto Paramedic Services Care Fund. Names of all winners will be posted to the Staff Blog daily.

District Celebrations

Food options will be available at District Hubs or stations from 11:00-14:00 on identified days throughout the week for both on and off-duty staff members! The schedule is as follows:

  • Tuesday, May 21
    • Headquarters
  • Wednesday, May 22
    • D1 Hub
    • 46 Station
    • 54 Station
  • Thursday, May 23
    • D2 Hub
    • D3 Hub
  • Friday, May 24
    • 45 Station

For those on-shift crews who are unable to make it to a District Hub or station on a noted celebration day, Superintendents will be working to get the featured food options out to as many crews as possible. Those staff working in other TPS locations (e.g., Community Paramedicine, Eastern, Rivalda) are encouraged to attend the identified District Hub or station celebration closest to them.

Additionally, Zoll Medical representatives will join us at 01 Station on Thursday, May 23, from 11:00-14:00.

Special Offer from the Toronto Blue Jays!

Expression of Interest – 2024 Paramedic Services Week: Social Media Campaign – closes 23:59:59 hours on April 24, 2024

All Toronto Paramedic Services employees are invited to participate in an Expression of Interest (EOI) for the 2024 Paramedic Services Week – Media Campaign.

Paramedic Services Week is an annual Canada-wide celebration of all aspects of Paramedic Services, that will take place from May 19-25, 2024. This year there will be a social media campaign to shine a light on our Service’s dedicated staff members who contribute to the well-being of our community members in so many ways. Whether you work on the frontlines or behind the scenes, each of you plays a vital role in ensuring the health and safety of Torontonians.

We are seeking individuals and/or groups that are willing to share their stories and support this year’s theme, “Help us, help you”, through our social media platforms as we celebrate Paramedic Services Week.

A special thank you and congratulations to Divisional Ambassadors Sheryl Jackson, Lee Patterson, and Peter You, who were recognized with the Ambassador of the Year Award.

However, our mission is not complete, and we’re making one last push for donations. Every dollar counts, and your support can truly make a difference in the lives of those who need it most. By contributing to United Way, you are empowering local initiatives that tackle critical issues like education, health, and financial stability.

The deadline is fast approaching, so let’s rally together for this final surge of generosity. Make a contribution and be a part of something bigger than ourselves.
